Rascal Flatts' "I Like the Sound of That" Becomes Shay Mooney's Second #1 as a Writer

ABC/Fred LeeRascal Flatts aren’t the only ones celebrating as their latest single, “I Like the Sound of That,” ascends to the top of the charts. Shay Mooney of Dan+Shay is pretty happy too, since he co-wrote the hit with Best New Artist Grammy winner Meghan Trainor and tunesmith Jesse Frasure.

“Huge thanks to @rascalflatts for allowing me to celebrate my second number 1 as a writer,” Shay tweeted. “So crazy! Thanks country radio & all who helped!” He marked his first number-one as a writer when his duo’s “Nothin’ Like You” occupied the top spot back in December.

If you wonder how Dan+Shay would sound singing the Rascal Flatts hit, all you need to do is check out the version they shared on social media after they found out the song was number one. Their current single, “From the Ground Up,” is currently in the top 30.
