A “Hurricane” of heavy metal: Luke Combs collects an impressive array of gold & platinum awards

ABC/Mark LevineLuke Combs may only be on the fourth single of his career so far, but the North Carolina native is already amassing quite a collection of precious metal.

His debut single, “Hurricane,” has just been certified triple platinum by the RIAA, while his follow-up, “When It Rains It Pours,” is now double platinum. If you’re seeing a pattern here, you might have predicted that his third single, “One Number Away,” has just crossed the million mark and gone platinum.

Single number four, “She Got the Best of Me,” just broke into country’s top-30 this week. It’s from the deluxe reissue of his album, re-titled This One’s for You Too. Another album track, “Beautiful Crazy,” has also been certified gold, even though it’s never been a single.

Here’s another impressive feat: Since its release in June of 2017, Luke’s debut album has been streamed more than a billion times.

Luke reflects on his success in a new Nightline profile, shot before his debut at New York City’s Madison Square Garden last weekend. You can check out out the piece online.
