It’s hard to be a “Diamond in a Rhinestone World”: Dolly to be honored with exhibit at Grammy Museum

ABC/Lou RoccoShe’s already 2019’s MusiCares Person of the Year, and now, Dolly Parton will also be honored with her own exhibit at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.

Diamond in a Rhinestone World: The Costumes of Dolly Parton will feature iconic items of clothing from the eight-time Grammy winner’s personal archives, including outfits she’s worn on album covers, in music videos, and onstage.

“I probably have thousands of dresses from over the years,” Dolly admits. “I had a hard time letting go of some of my favorites, but I’m excited for them to be included in this exhibit. I can’t wait to see them on display at the GRAMMY Museum!”

This is the first time Dolly’s ever participated in an exhibit outside of her Chasing Rainbows museum at Dollywood, her Pigeon Forge, Tennessee theme park.

Fans can get their first look at Dolly’s duds on February 4, the same day the entertainment icon takes part in a Town Hall Program in the museum’s Clive Davis Theater. The exhibit will run through March 17.

It takes its name from a line in Dolly’s 1984 #1 from the movie Rhinestone, “Tennessee Homesick Blues.”

Dolly’s MusiCares tribute follows on Friday, February 8 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, just two nights before this year’s Grammys.
